The U.S.S. Iowa BB-61 sailed out of San Francisco Bay for the last time this afternoon.  The Pacific Battleship Center finished its first stage of restoration on the battleship, and is currently under tow to San Pedro harbor.  San Francisco has missed out on a five star tourist attraction as they refused berthing the Iowa.  But at least it’s good to know the Iowa has escaped the mothball fleet at Suisun Bay for all to enjoy as a floating museum.  Adios grand battleship.

The Forgotten Subway Station: a terminal that has been boarded up since 1945 can now be viewed if you stay on the 6 train when it makes its transition from downtown to uptown.  Built in 1904, it was meant to be the jewel of the subway system, but fell into disuse because of improper engineering.
